Natural Trap, Tali, Data
In Table 1 are the original data (6 sheets) provided by John Howe. Most measurements were not taken in my way and moreover not in the same way by the people who took them (compare the values on the lateral condyle height on sheet I, II, III and IV, V, VI-1 to 14)). The same specimen (42639) is recorded twice.
After trying several scatter diagrams, I decided to use only the distal articular width and depth (5 and 6) for comparison with E. hemionus onager (Fig.1) and trochlear height (2) and breadth ("4") just for comparisons inside the Natural Trap sample (Fig.2).
Fig.1 shows at least five large specimens. Two other seem to have very shallow distal articulations (damaged?) but the rest of their measurements is normal. The "bulk" is mostly larger than the extant E. hemionus onager with some overlap.
On Fig.2 appear three "wide-trochlea" specimens (not apparent on Fig.1); and one "large" specimen disappears.
